Festival & celebration 1

The April Fair traditionally starts two clear weeks after Semana Santa (Saint week). It originated from the fair in 1847, which was once a trading fair for farmers in Andalucia. The most prominent fair in the one in Seville. This is a week of serious dancing, drinking, eating and socializing, with late nights - or all-nighters - the norm. The sheer size of the April Fair's spectacle is extraordinary. From around midday until early evening - especially on Tuesday, the first official day - Sevilla society parades around the fairground in carriages or on horseback. There are also daily bullfights, generally considered the best of the season. In 2019, the fair will take place from May 5th to 12th.

Many activities will take place in Casetas (small bars). They belong to eminent local families, groups of friends, businesses, clubs, trade associations and political parties. Most of the casetas are private and open only to members and their guests. Alternatively, there are also seven public casetas - the "caseta municipal" where you can enjoy the food, drink and dance.Inside the tents the drinks begin to flow, and tapas are served, from around 1:30pm till early next morning. Each caseta is equipped with a bar, kitchen and sound system or live entertainment playing Sevillanas. This is the official genre of folk music in Seville, which has its own set dance.

Fiesta de San Fermín, (Spanish: Festival of Saint Fermín) festival was held annually in Pamplona, Spain, beginning at noon on July 6 and ending at midnight on July 14, honouring the city’s first bishop and patron saint, Saint Fermín. Pamplona’s modern fiesta starts with fireworks called chupinazo at noon on July 6, followed by the singing of the traditional song “Pamploneses, Viva San Fermín, Gora San Fermín” (“People of Pamplona, Long Live Saint Fermín”). The best-known part of the festival is the running of the bulls, or the encierro. From July 7 to July 14 the bulls to be used in the daily bullfights are run through the streets of the town to the bullring. Both locals and tourists participate in the event, made famous in Ernest Hemingway’s 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises. The bullfight, or corrida, is held every afternoon. Other events associated with the fiesta include the comparsa, a parade featuring large puppets carried by the marchers, as well as numerous parties and spontaneous gatherings. The festival ends on July 14 with the singing of “Pobre de Mi” (“Old Poor Me”).
